A
pink hippopotamus
was photographed by Will and Matt Burrard-Lucas in Masai Mara in
Kenya. The pink hippo has Leucism.
Leucism
is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals and humans. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin.
The pink hippo is said to be young, shy and never go far from its mother.
