President Benigno C Aquino III released a statement regarding the recent victory of the Philippine AZKALS. Today the AZKALS lost to Mongolia, but with the aggregate scoring rules (aggregate goals means the total goals count from teams that play each other twice, home & away), they will move on to the next round , the group stage of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup.
The President acknowledge the team's perseverance, discipline, cooperation and teamwork. His excellency also assured the team that the government will support them with their goal in the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers.

The Filipino people stand united in congratulating our Philippine Azkals on their 3-2 aggregate win against the Mongolian football team during their prequalifying playoff match for the group stage of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup.
This is a victory borne out of the constant striving for excellence of our very own Azkals. Their excellence is not borne of luck, but of the perseverance that characterizes true athletes: discipline, cooperation, teamwork. Along with their sportsmanship, these values continue to provide a rallying point for our countrymen.
