Chief Justice Renato Corona, the defense team and the prosecution team, are asked to appear on January 16, Monday 2 o'clock in the afternoon for the impeachment trial.
Signed by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, presiding officer of the impeachment court, the notice is dated January 9, 2012. The Senate will serve as the impeachment court.
The court granted the preliminary hearing filed by CJ Corona, the court will look if the impeachment case filed is valid and if it complies with the constitution.
Agents and counsels who will appear in the hearing will have to file "entry of appearance" right before the trial. One from the prosecution and defense, will have their opening statement, not exceeding to 10 minutes.
The prosecution team is composed of 11 members, headed by Rep. Niel Tupas Jr. of the 5th district of Iloilo. Chief Justice Corona will have a 15-man defense team, with Retired Associate Justice Serafin Cuevas as the defense head.
