New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law, that legalized gay marriages.
After the 33-29 votes, by State senators, gay marriages in New York is now legal. "This vote today will send a message across the country. This is the way to go, the time to do it is now, and it is achievable; it's no longer a dream or an aspiration. I think you're going to see a rapid evolution,", Cuomo stated in a press conference.
NYC is the sixth cities that legalized gay marriage, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and the District of Columbia are among the cities that now allow same sex marriage.
Last year, Pres. Obama sign the law that allows gay people to enter the military.
