Russell Crowe is will play as Jor-El, Superman's real father in planet Krypton.
Jor-El was last portrayed by Marlon Brando in the 1978 Superman starring Christopher Reeves. Crowe was chosen by director Zack Snyder.
Although there are no official plot released, there's speculation that the movie will evolve around where Superman came from and it involves his biological parents.Also the villain in the movie, Zod, is a rebel from planet Krypton and came to earth to take revenge against Jor-El's son. Michael Shannon will play Zod,Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Kevin Costner as Clark Kent's human father.
The movie is set to open in theaters on December 2012.
