Samsung will have to pay Apple $1.05 billion for copying iPhone and iPad features

Two of the biggest names in the market in terms of cellphones and gadgets will have to settle their issues, this is ruled by jury.

Samsung and Apple collide and file lawsuits against each other for copying and violating patent issues. Apple accused Samsung of copying iPad and iPhones features. The particular features that Apple emphasize are the touch screen features, icon designs and hardware components. Samsung filed a counter lawsuit against Apple and also accused them of patent-infringement.

The jury found Samsung guilty and they have to pay Apple, $1.05 billion for damages. The counter lawsuit filed by Samsung is invalid and will not receive anything from Apple.

Samsung was shock of the verdict and in a statement released by the company, Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices

Apple also released their own statement, We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trail showed that Samsung's copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were about much more than patents or money. They were about values.
